Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon states that the “goal is to win silverware” at the Indian Premier League 2025 auction.

Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, two batters, were named the Punjab Kings’ player retentions for the upcoming season.

Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, two batters, were named by the Punjab Kings as their player retentions for the upcoming Indian Premier League season ahead of the much-anticipated auctions. After joining Punjab in 2019, the wicketkeeper has amassed 756 runs in 34 games at a strike rate of 146.23 and an average of 22.24 over the previous six years. Last season, Shashank became a vital member of the team after amassing 354 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 164.65 and an average of 44.25.

Prior to the IPL auction, Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon stated that the team’s objective is to take home the trophy in the next season. In addition, he hailed Ricky Ponting, their recently hired head coach, as one of cricket’s brightest minds.

“As we go there with the largest possible purse, this auction will be crucial. We will expand on what we currently have. It will be an interesting auction, especially for us, as we also have a new coach in Ricky Ponting. He is one of the sharpest minds in cricket. You will see us develop an extraordinary team. “We want to win something this year—nothing less,” Menon was cited as saying in a Punjab Kings press release.

He added that the Punjab-based franchise has put a lot of faith in Prabhsimran Singh.

“Over the past six years, we have witnessed Prabhsimran’s growth. We have a lot of faith in him as a player. We have witnessed his growth. Last year, he had some outstanding innings. “We think he is about to make his big league debut,” he stated.

“Shashank is renowned for his ability to bat at several positions in the order. Last season, he demonstrated his abilities. He keeps going with the same enthusiasm and style. That was a major factor in our decision to keep him. He is a fielder of firearms. And we are best suited for these two players,” he continued.

Ricky Ponting was named the Kings’ new head coach earlier this year, and Menon made a suggestion that the Australian icon would bring in new ideas at the next auctions. He went on to say that this season, his team will aim for the trophy.
