Mr. Huang underlined the importance of living in the present. His company, Nvidia, has seen a sharp increase in valuation in recent years.
Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, has a unique perspective on time and gave an explanation for his decision to forgo wearing a watch. Mr. Huang, whose company Nvidia has seen its valuation soar in recent years, stressed the importance of living in the present while speaking at a tech event.
“I do not wear a watch, but very few people are aware of this. I do not because this is the most crucial moment. I may surprise you by saying that I am not very ambitious. My goal is to become better at what I am doing, not to do more. I wait for the world to come to me; I am not trying to be better. As anyone who knows me knows, Nvidia lacks a long-term plan. We do not have a big plan. We define a long-term plan as simply asking ourselves, “What are we doing today?”
The Instagram account @entrepreneursonig shared a video of Huang discussing his philosophy during the event, captioning it, “Doing more is easy; doing less is hard.” Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA, talks about how he and his company focus on the present to influence the future.

In 2023, Huang shared a story from a conversation with a Japanese gardener, which shaped his perspective on the subject. The billionaire recounted meeting a gardener who “lovingly tended to a temple in Kyoto” and managed to maintain the garden’s mossy perfection despite the heat, the garden’s size, and his small tools. When asked how he did it, the gardener replied, “I have plenty of time.”
“The best career advice I can give is to focus on the present because it is the most important time,” Huang thought. I’m rarely chasing things… I’m focused on now. I’m enjoying my job.”
