“I Am An American Before A Republican”: Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses Kamala Harris

Although he disagreed with both major parties, Arnold Schwarzenegger claimed that Donald Trump’s rhetoric that referred to the US as “a trash can for the world” had left him “furious.”

The “Terminator” actor and former Republican governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, said Wednesday that the only way to “turn the page” on Donald Trump’s polarising behaviour was to support Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

Although he had problems with both major parties, the 77-year-old former bodybuilder claimed that Trump’s rhetoric that referred to the US as “a trash can for the world” had left him “furious.”

Schwarzenegger is the most recent of dozens of well-known former Republicans, including former vice president Dick Cheney, to support the Democratic candidate for president over Trump in the days leading up to the November 5 election.

The actor said, “It is so unpatriotic to call America a trash can for the world; it makes me angry as someone who talks to people from all over the world and still knows that America is the shining city on a hill.”

“Before becoming a Republican, I will always be an American. I am voting for Tim Walz and Kamala Harris this week because of this,” he wrote on X.

After serving two terms as governor of the most populous state in the United States, Schwarzenegger left office in 2011 and has since advocated for immigration reform, small business, and environmental issues.

In response to a group of Trump supporters attacking the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, Schwarzenegger compared the incident to the Nazi Kristallnacht riots in his home country of Austria and referred to the Republican as a “failed leader” who “will go down in history as the worst president ever.”

According to his statement on Wednesday, he does not “like either party right now.”

He asserted, “My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, increased deficits, and rejected election results.”

“Democrats do not handle deficits any better, and I am concerned about how their local policies are harming our cities by increasing crime.”

According to him, however, supporting Trump would “just be four more years of bullshit with no results that makes us angrier and angrier, more divided, and more hateful,” “Vote this week,” he implored. “Turn the page and put this junk behind us.”
