Following the Pune Test loss, the Indian team management allegedly denied players the opportunity to skip optional training sessions.
The Indian team’s losses to New Zealand in the first two Test matches have shocked the cricket world as a whole. After losing the series to the Kiwis, the Indian team was outplayed by England in 2012, which resulted in their first home defeat in twelve years. The team management reportedly took a drastic step in response to the outcomes of the first two Test matches by calling off the “optional training” session for all players, including pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Players have historically had the option to skip one of the training sessions. Because of this tendency, elite batters and seamers frequently skip that session and only engage in light training. That is no longer the case, though.
As per a report in Indian Express, the team management has taken away the option of missing a practice session from every single player.
“The players have been asked to attend two practice days on 30 and 31 October by the team management. According to a source cited in the report, “it is mandatory and no one can skip it.”
India may have lost the Test series to New Zealand, with the visitors already leading 0-2, but the team still needs to win the third Test in Mumbai. The Indian squad cannot afford to make another mistake in light of the World Test Championship standings. Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, and other team management officials therefore desire that every player attend every training session.
According to reports, the players were given a two-day break following the Pune Test before getting back together to get ready for the series’ last game. According to reports, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli drove to Mumbai with their families. On October 27, the majority of the Indian players and support personnel will gather in Mumbai.
