Due to their injuries, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal will both be absent from the forthcoming UEFA Nations League international break.
The La Liga leaders announced on Monday that Barcelona’s top forwards, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, would not be participating in the international break due to injuries. In Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad, Lewandowski sustained a back injury and had a goal controversially disallowed. Barcelona said in a statement that Lewandowski would be rested for approximately ten days due to issues with his lumbar region.
The 36-year-old will miss Poland’s upcoming Nations League games against Portugal and Scotland, but he should be back for Barcelona’s next league game on November 23 against Celta Vigo.
Due to a right ankle injury, Yamal was unable to play in Sunday’s match in San Sebastian and is anticipated to be sidelined for two to three weeks, according to the club.
The 17-year-old will miss Barca’s trip to Vigo, Spain’s games against Switzerland on Monday and Denmark on Thursday.
Additionally, he is doubtful for the November 26 Champions League match at home against Brest and the subsequent La Liga matchup with Las Palmas.
Lewandowski is currently the top goalscorer in La Liga with 17 goals across all competitions, while Yamal has only scored six goals in his 15 games this season.
Barcelona has nine points, good for sixth place in the Champions League.
Despite having played one more game than their title rivals, the Catalans lead Real Madrid by six points in La Liga.
