Apple Final Cut Pro 11 With New AI-Powered Caption Generation and Spatial Video Editing Released

Apple has introduced AI-powered tools for transcription and magnetic masking.

Apple released Final Cut Pro 11, the successor to the Final Cut Pro X, on Wednesday. New artificial intelligence (AI) features and the ability to edit spatial videos have been added to the Mac video editing app. Features like Magnetic Mask, Transcribe to Captions, and tools for editing spatial video titles and recorded footage are all included in this significant update. The Cupertino-based tech behemoth also released updates for Logic Pro, Final Cut Camera, and Final Cut Pro for iPad.

Apple Final Cut Pro 11 features

In a newsroom post, the tech giant detailed the new features introduced in Final Cut Pro 11. Two new AI features that make use of Apple’s M-series chipsets have been added to the latest version of the video editing software. The Magnetic Mask feature comes first. Even without the use of green screens, the feature is able to isolate objects and people in a video clip. According to the tech giant, users will be able to customise environments and backgrounds with this tool. Additionally, Magnetic Mask can be applied to video effects and colour correction.

Transcribe to Captions is another AI-powered feature that was included with the latest version of Final Cut Pro. This allows users to create closed captions in the video timeline automatically. According to the company, a native large language model (LLM) capable of transcribing spoken audio is being used.

Apart from this, the Final Cut Pro 11 is also getting the capability to edit spatial videos. These videos can be captured with the Apple Vision Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models, as well as the iPhone 16 series. The video editing program has the ability to correct colour, change the depth of titles and footage, and more.

When editing spatial videos, users will be able to choose from a variety of viewing modes to concentrate on either the left or right eye angles. After editing, the spatial videos can be viewed on Vision Pro and exported straight to the user’s Photos library.

The Magnetic Timeline, multicam editing, improved proxy tools, and other features are still available in Final Cut Pro 11.
