Raashii Khanna Discusses How Some questioned Her Choice to Accept the Sabarmati Report

Vikrant Massey also plays a crucial part in the Sabarmati Report.

The Sabarmati Report, Raashii Khanna’s most recent film, opened in theatres today, November 15. The Godhra train burning incident involving the Sabarmati Express in February 2002 served as the inspiration for the Dheeraj Sarna-directed movie. In a recent interview, Raashii spoke openly about how people questioned why she chose to work on this project, especially since she had never publicly taken a political stance before. “There were people who asked, ‘You have never taken a political stance in anything till now,'” the actress said of Sabarmati (The Sabarmati Report). However, you are making a movie like this. You did this, but why? “Are you certain?”

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Raashii Khanna added, “Yeh sab sawaal aye mere liye mere aas paas jitne bhi log the. The film ayi thi sabse pehle to mere bhi yahi sawaal the ki kya yeh sahi hai has a jab. Sochna zada pda pehli baar mujhe. Everyone in my immediate vicinity asked me these questions. And I also had the same doubts about whether this was correct when I first saw the movie. I had to think more for the first time.

Additionally, the actress revealed that a great deal of research was done for the movie because it deals with a “sensitive topic.” “Lekin jab mai team se mili aur yeh humne bahut interview me pehle bhi bola hai ki hamare paas ek script aai aur research ussey bhi zada thi us script pe,” Raashii Khanna stated. “Kyuki yeh bahut sensitive topic hai aur yeh kahi pe bhi left ya right ja sakta hai aisa mujhe lga.” When the filming of Lekin Jab Hum began, I had a lot of faith in it. Log jis angle se dekh rahe hai, vo angle hai, aur mujhe nahi lagta hai. But when I first met the team, and as we have stated in numerous interviews, we were given a script, and the research that went into it was even more extensive than the script itself because, as I felt, this is a very delicate subject that could go either way. But when we started shooting, I was confident about it. And I do not think that the angle people are looking at it from is the right one.”

Additionally, Raashii Khanna emphasised that The Sabarmati Report is a memorial to everyone who perished in the Godhra train fire. “I think it is a human angle,” she said, “because we are only discussing the 59 people who lost their lives. It pays homage to them while remaining impartial and supporting humanity.

Raashii recently shared a BTS video from The Sabarmati Report’s set on Instagram. “Kyuki khaana, gaana, hasna aur batiyaana jaroori hai” (Because eating, singing, laughing, and talking are important) was the caption. Look at this:
